Join us for a spectacular night-time cycle ride across York as we light up our bikes and demand safer, better-lit streets!

This mass glow ride will take us through some of York’s most poorly lit cycling routes, as we ride together in a joyful, visible convoy. Along the way, we’re highlighting the importance of lighting – on bikes and in our public spaces – to ensure everyone feels safe cycling after dark.

Dress to glow! Adorn yourself and your bike with:

• LED strips
• Fairy lights
• Glowsticks
• UV face paint
• Anything that sparkles or shines!

We’re calling on City of York Council to improve street lighting along key cycle routes – because while bike lights are a legal must, street lighting is essential for visibility, safety, and confidence, especially for women and marginalised cyclists riding at night.

This event is part of the nationwide “My Ride. Our Right” mass glow rides – standing up for safer streets, better infrastructure, and the right to ride without fear.
