York Environment Festival (YEFest) call for events now open
Fri, 06/06/2025 - 10:45

The York Environment Festival (YEFest) has launched its call for events for 2025. Running from Saturday 27 September to Sunday 2 November, the festival invites individuals and organisations to submit proposals for events that celebrate and advocate for environmental action across the city.
This year’s theme – ‘hope through action’ – takes inspiration from the words of writer and activist Rebecca Solnit: “hope calls for action; action is impossible without hope.” YEFest organisers are seeking events that inspire practical engagement with environmental issues, whether through education, creativity, community connection, or hands-on activity.
Now in its sixth year, YEFest (formerly York Environment Week) continues to grow. In 2024, the festival featured over 100 events and drew more than 3,000 participants. It offers a platform for local groups, schools, businesses, universities, and individuals to showcase their work, share ideas, and connect with wider audiences.
All events in the festival programme must be free and open to the public, and organisers are particularly encouraging submissions that engage young people and marginalised communities in York.
Deadline to submit event proposals: Wednesday 31 July 2025
